Our Blog showcases just a few of the highlights at OLM including our staff video messages and songs when the children were at home engaged in remote learning. We missed the children so much but were delighted with the responses to our parent survey about the quality of education received by the children when learning from home in Lockdown.

The children's wonderful imaginations shone through and they came up with a real recipe for success!
Ben Wilson - Chewing Gum Man!
admin on: Our Lady of Muswell School Blog
Year 4's Art topic this half term is called "Which local artist lives near here?" and OLM are lucky enough to have one living just up the road- Ben Wilson Chewing Gum Man. Ben visited Year 4 this week and showed us all his work. He is pro-environment and helps make streets look colourful by painting patterns and pictures over old, flattened chewing gum on the pavements which are meaningful to the members of public in Muswell Hill. Year 4 walked around Muswell Hill looking at all his work and he even painted one for OLM situated near Planet Organic. Back at school, the children got to create their own chewing gum designs! What a fun day!

Each class in KS2 enjoyed 2 lessons, "Roving Reporters" and "Sky Ocean Rescue" throughout the day. To finish off, the coaches met everyone for a final assembly and presented awards to some star pupils!

Nursery Coldfall woods
admin on: Our Lady of Muswell School Blog
This half-term the Nursery children have been reading the story 'Bog Baby' by Jeanne Willis. We made our own Bog Baby stuffed toys in class by sewing. We took these with us on a trip to Coldfall Woods as this is where Bog Babies like to live. We had a great time exploring the woods, and we brought back lots of sticks to make our Bog Babies a big nest in the classroom.
Stella wins Malala's pencil competition
admin on: Our Lady of Muswell School Blog
Stella Harden, has won a national competition run by Penguin books. The competition, which ran in the Autumn Term 2017 to celebrate the release of Malala’s debut picture book, Malala’s Magic Pencil , asked Key Stage 2 students to write about one change they would make to the world if they had a magic pencil of their own.
Entrants chose all kinds of problems to tackle: from homelessness to global warming, sea pollution to unequal pay – and they even touched on some lighter wishes, such as putting zips on football hooligans’ mouths or providing all citizens with fairy wings. After much deliberation, the judges chose Stella Harden as the overall winner. Stella’s entry beautifully described the importance of communicating with others to find out what their lives are like – through her wish to be able to speak with her cat, Huffle. Stella received her prize (a specially engraved trophy) at an assembly at OLM. The school also received a beautiful canvass print from Malala's Magic Pencil and a selection of books.
