Catholic life of the school

At OLM we believe in Making Time for God. All children, regardless of their faith, learn to understand gospel values. Our aim is for our children to grow and develop to become responsible and kind individuals, with strong values and a sense of duty to the communities they are part of.

Catholic social teaching is threaded through all we do; it is based on the premise that we love one another. By living out Catholic Social Teaching we can build a world of justice, love and peace where everyone has what they need.

Our most recent RE Inspection took place in February 2025, we were delighted with the outcome:

"Congratulations to you and the community of Our Lady of Muswell Catholic Primary on this Catholic Schools Inspection (CSI) report.  Reading the report provides a deep sense of inclusivity, respect, and compassion that defines your school, where pupils of all faiths and backgrounds feel welcomed and nurtured. The commitment to Catholic social teaching, active charity work, and the tangible culture of care and support among pupils and staff come through as real strengths."

Not everyone in our school community is Catholic. At OLM we are an inclusive and welcoming community where everyone is valued and respected. We have many non-Catholic family's who have actively chosen OLM because of our strong value based system.

Catholic Social Teaching (CST) is the part of Catholic teaching that addresses matters of social, economic and ecological justice in the world. CST provides us with a structure on how to incorporate and apply these reflections to our daily lives. More importantly, it guides us on how we can actively respond and to work towards a common good.
At OLM we follow the Rooted in Love programme which has been developed by Caritas Westminster and the Diocese of Westminster Education Service. Each half term we focus on a different theme where we think about others and the things we can do to help. This is a progressive, age appropriate programme, which builds upon previous learning year by year.
  • Autumn 1: Care of Creation
  • Autumn 2: Preferential Option for the Poor
  • Spring 1: Solidarity and Peace
  • Spring 2: Community and Participation
  • Summer 1: Dignity of Workers
  • Summer 2: Human Dignity

Catholic Community

Our school sits within the parish of Our Lady of Muswell in the Diocese of Westminster. Fr Mark Anwyl is our Parish Priest. Fr Mark is a frequent visitor to the school and helps us with key celebrations and liturgies. The children will visit OLM Church once a term to join the parish for for important Masses.

The School Chaplaincy Team

Who are the the School Chaplaincy Team?

The Chaplaincy team are children from Y3 to Y6 who support the Catholic life of the school by meeting to share ideas, plan and run spiritual and charitable activities. Our aim is to help support and make a positive difference in the community as well as school life.

The team will also be working on the half termly themes of Catholic Social Teaching and this year they will be working on developing a quiet reflection area in the playground.

Dear God,

Thank you for you being with us all the time and keeping your faith in us. Thank you for Mary, Our Lady.

Please help us to be kind to others and to help those who have suffered.

We promise to do our best, to do our duty, to help other people and to keep the values of OLM.

Amen
